Janice Parker Le Jeune

January 17, 1934 — August 22, 2018

Janice Parker Le Jeune passed away after a brief illness on August 22, 2018. She was the beloved only child of Bertha and Carl Parker, devoted wife to Warren Le Jeune and a loving mother. She was born in New Orleans, LA on January 17, 1934 and lived in Port Sulphur, LA. Janice graduated from Port Sulphur High School and was the Plaquemine Parish Orange Festival queen of 1950. She attended Dominican College and later graduated from Holy Cross College in 1973. Janice and Warren were married for 63 years. As a young married couple, they moved to Grand Isle, Morgan City and New Orleans where they raised their six children and gathered life-long friends. For 17 years, Janice taught first grade at St. Julian Eymard Catholic School. She was also a Red Cross swimming instructor and taught Religious Ed. Janice was an excellent seamstress, an avid patchwork and watercolor quilter, an extraordinary cook, lover of books and crossword enthusiast and she played the organ, piano and guitar. After retiring to Belle Chasse, LA , Janice stayed busy taking care of her mother, her ever-enlarging family, and volunteering. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help where she was an active member of the Altar Society and taught in the Religious Education program. Janice was a faith-filled, devout woman. She loved her Catholic faith, had a special devotion to Our Blessed Mother, and possessed a servant’s heart. Janice is survived by her beloved husband Warren; six children: Gary Le Jeune (Cindy), Lisa Rogers (David), Marcelle Ladd (Steve), Carl Le Jeune (Jamey), Leah Goodgion (Darron) and Gina Marsden (Mark); 17 grandchildren: Michael, Emily, Daniel, Adam, Carl, Robert, Stephen, Claire, Logan, Victoria, Cullen, Hannah, Sophie, Lisa, Thomas, Anna and Camille; and 7 great-grandchildren: Andrew, Emma, Aubrey, Caroline, Liam, Luke, Colton and 2 on the way; three brothers-in-law and their wives; and many cherished cousins in the Houston, TX area and south Louisiana. She will be greatly missed by her dog Ellie. As an only child, family was very important to Janice. The love she showered on her children is reflected in their devotion to her. Janice always wore a smile and greeted all she met with her warmth and kindness, and she was always willing to lend a hand. The family would like to thank Passages Hospice and Dependable Care Services for their aid which allowed Janice to remain in her home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 10:00am, with visitation prior to Mass at 9:00am. Interment will follow at the OLPH Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Passages Hospice or a charity of your choice.
