Jane Leonard Wingerter

Jane Leonard Wingerter passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at the age of 87. Beloved wife of the late Austin J. Wingerter, M.D. for 35 years. Mother of Anthony M. Wingerter (Kathleen), Ann Wingerter Delo (Steve, Sr.), J. Patrick Wingerter (Claire), Robert A. Wingerter, Sr. (Leslie) and David C. Wingerter (Susan). Daughter of the late Ora Mae Bouchon Leonard and Stanley Lucas Leonard. Sister of the late Joan Leonard Castille. Grandmother of Scott and Kelly Wingerter, Stephen Delo, Jr., Matthew and Christopher Delo, Robert, Jr., Brian, Michael, Logan and Jordan Wingerter. Great grandmother of Stephen Michael “Tripp” Delo, III. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She loved Mardi Gras and dancing and was a member of S.A.G.E.S. of St. Andrew’s Parish, NAIM, Theta Golden Agers, Westbank Cajun Heritage, and Honky Tonk Stompers. She was a lifelong resident of Algiers, LA. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 11am at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 3101 Eton St. Algiers, LA. Visitation will be held at the church from 9am until 11am. Interment, Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Catholic High School, Baton Rouge, St. Joseph Academy of Baton Rouge, Jesuit High School, or Archbishop Shaw High Schools.
