James Lee Garza

James Lee Garza passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at the age of 65. Son of the late Antonio Garza and Sadie Turner Garza. Brother of Lynda Garza, George A. Garza, Robert C. Garza (Jeanette) and the late Eugene A. Garza and John A. Garza. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as his canine companion, Junior. The son of a merchant seaman, Jim was passionate in his desire to improve the availability of quality medical attention for seafarers calling to port. The network of clinics, hospitals, doctors, and specialists he created provided for the diagnoses and treatments of sailors within a narrow window of time while they were in port. His compassion was best found at the bedside of a foreign seaman, with interpreter at hand, working through the triage and treatment of a stranger in our midst. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Graveside Service at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 1225 Whitney Avenue, Gretna, LA on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at 11AM.
