Rev. James Comeaux

Reverend James Comeaux, 81, of Belle Chasse, passed away on Monday, July 26, 2021 from complications resulting from a massive stroke, at his home surrounded by his loved ones. Son of the late John B. Comeaux and Leza Soileau; preceded in death by siblings Dennis Comeaux, Kenneth Comeaux, John Comeaux and Jennie Comeaux-Wieden; survived by his siblings Jack E. Comeaux (Sue), Rosetta Comeaux-Bonedona (Vincent), Dean Comeaux (Kelly), Sandra Comeaux-Busbee (David), and several nieces and nephews. He was united in holy matrimony to Shirley Bernice-Wilson on February 21, 1964. This union blessed them with two sons, James P. Comeaux (Rachael) and Jack Comeaux. He was a devoted grandfather of Derek Comeaux (Candace), Coryn Comeaux-Butter (Jeremy), and great-grandfather of Emmi Jade Comeaux and two step-great-grandsons, Hayden & Marley. Also special friend and loving caregiver April Marie Delaune. He was a United States Army Veteran, having served his country honorably during the Vietnam conflict as an E7 Sergeant. Reverend Comeaux retired from Bell South after forty years working underground construction and as a lineman, while there, ministering for the United Pentecostal Church for the past fifty years. During his pastoring of the Belle Chasse Pentecostal Church, he was a death row chaplain at Angola State Penitentiary for fourteen years. At the age of 76, he was post certified to become a deputy for the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff Department. He served with the police force until his passing. He was a past president of the Belle Chasse Lions Club. He also was a former Post Commander of the Belle Chasse VFW Post 329. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Friday, July 30, 2021 at 1pm. Visitation will be held on Friday morning for the immediate family at 10am and 11am until 1pm for friends. Burial will be held at Garden of Memories, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA 70001. The family requires that all guests wear a mask to attend services. Family and friends may view and sign the online guest book at www.mothefunerals.com .
