James Joseph Barbier Jr.

James Joseph Barbier, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at the age of 72 surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his loving mother Molly Mae Barbier and father James J. Barbier, Sr; mother and father-in-law Rena Mae Blanchard and Robert J. Blanchard, Sr.; sister-in-law Priscilla Nicosia Blanchard. Jimmy is the beloved husband of 49 years to Rhonda Blanchard Barbier. He is the devoted father of Blair Matthew Barbier (Lacie Callais Barbier). He is the devoted grandfather “Gramps” of Cate Olivia Barbier, Allie Grace Barbier, and Leah Marie Barbier. Jimmy “Jimbo” is the brother-in-law of Robert J. Blanchard (Patricia), Ryan J. Blanchard (Barbara), Royce J. Blanchard, Randy J. Blanchard (Earline), Rory J. Blanchard (Karen), Rudy J. Blanchard (Bernie) and Rennis J. Blanchard (Kittie). Uncle “Jimbo” is also survived by nieces and nephews; Melissa (Matt), Brett (Holly), Randy, Barrett (Cristina), Kelly, Justin (Ramie), Roger (Amber), Ashley, Josh, Hanna, Lance, Emma. Jimmy is also survived by many loving cousins on both the Barbier and Montecino sides with whom he shared a lifetime of memories. Jimmy was a 1969 graduate of West Jefferson High School and a retired 23-year employee of Jefferson Parish. Jimmy spent his retired life doting over his three beautiful granddaughters with his loving wife Rhonda. He was a devoted LSU Baseball fan, especially when he was watching his son Blair, and was a volunteer baseball and basketball coach at King’s Grant Playground for the Jefferson Parish Recreation Department. Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Visitation at St. Rosalie Catholic Church, Harvey, LA on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 11 AM until Funeral Mass time at 1:15 PM. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. Mothe Funeral Homes handled arrangements.
