Iris Doyle Fraychineaud

March 3, 1955 — September 7, 2022

Iris Elaine Doyle Fraychineaud, 67 of Gretna, LA, left our arms on September 7, 2022. Iris is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Richard Lester Fraychineaud, sons Richie Lee (wife Leslie Nicole) and Ryan Grant (wife Sarah Lynn) and grandchildren Logan Cole, Brayden Lee, Rosalia Kayci, Daisy Lorraine and Zyan Danton Fraychineaud.
She is survived by sisters Patty Mayo and Ellyn LaJaunie (husband Glen), brothers Grant Doyle (wife Claudette “Bitty”) and Danny Doyle. Iris had a very large and loving family consisting of (7) nieces, (6) nephews, (5) great-nieces, (8) great-nephews, (3) great-great-nieces and (1) great-great-nephew.
She was preceded in death by her mother Patsy Jean McInnis James, stepfather Harold C. James, father Everett G. Doyle, Sr., sister Cynthia Kay Naquin, (1) nephew and (1) great nephew.
Iris attended the Virginia School of the Deaf and Blind and graduated from the Louisiana School of the Deaf in 1974. She was a member of the Cheerleading Squad, Y-Teen Club, Jr. NAD, N.A.D., Louisiana Association of the Deaf, Krewe of Dauphine, St. Gerard Catholic Church and ICDA. Iris was a huge Tennis fan. She loved camping, hunting, fishing and trawling for shrimp. She also enjoyed crafts and Antiques, especially those involving anything with hearts. Iris loved traveling and spending as much time as she could with the large number of family and friends that she and Richard had the great fortune of meeting and establishing over their long life together.
Iris first met Richard, while in elementary school, at the Louisiana School of the Deaf. She moved to Virginia in 1962, and there attended the Virginia School of the Deaf and Blind. When Iris moved back to Louisiana in 1969, she reunited with Richard and after graduation they married and continued their beautiful and extensive life adventures together.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to all of the Staff, Nurses and Doctors at Touro Hospital, Ochsner Hospital and The Carpenter House. These institutions provided wonderful care and compassion to Iris and her family over the past six months, while dealing with her illness. In Lieu of flowers, if you would prefer, family request you donate to your favorite charity or Church in Iris’ memory.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at 1:30 pm at Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos Catholic Church, 3037 Dauphine Street, New Orleans, LA 70117. Visitation at the Church from 12:00 noon until funeral time. Burial will take place at a later date. Mothe Funeral Homes in charge of arrangements.
