Ida A. Saik

Ida A. Saik was born July 24, 1924 in Natchez, Mississippi and died peacefully with her “guardian angel”, Mae Donovan, at her side, in Gretna, Louisiana on October 24, 2021. Ida was a nurse in her early years.
She was the founder of the ADOPT A COP PROGRAM in Jefferson Parish and was loved by many who were honored during the years the program existed. Ida traveled throughout the world. She was also active politically for many years. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Joseph Saik and her dogs Corky and Speedy. She is survived by her niece Katie Austin Donovan of Riverside, California.
Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, in Harvey, LA on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at 11AM. Visitation will begin at 9AM. Interment immediately following at Garden of Memories, Metairie, La.
