On March 04, 2022, Hien Cong Tu (“Teo”, “Tommy”) passed in his home in Harvey, LA. Tommy was the deeply devoted father of Brhett Linh Tu, beloved son of Hong Van Tran & Be Thi Le and Vinh Hien Tu, cherished older brother of My Linh Tu (Huey Vo), Dang Thu Tu (Dung Nguyen) and Thomas Tran, and caring uncle to Dylan, Cameron, Brandon Tyler, Blake, Mia and Mercede.
Tommy worked alongside his sister, Linh, at T&B Food store. He was a pivotal part in the continued success of a family owned establishment that was started by their mother 30 years ago. It is a local favorite hangout spot and famous for their poboys, red beans, and breakfast/lunch plates. Tommy enjoyed cutting up and joking with the customers. Loyal customers became friends and some became like family.
Tommy’s downtime was spent “Beastin as Usual” at the gym. He maintained a high level of dedication, commitment, strength and endurance with “Happy Chest Monday” workouts, cardio days and “moving weights” sessions. Tommy made powerlifting 310 lbs (repeatedly), seem effortless. He continuously challenged himself to push his capabilities beyond his previous limits.
Tommy considered his family to be life’s greatest blessing. His presence was unassuming but supportive. He was observant, reflective and occasionally would insert a cheesy joke into the conversation, resulting in fits of laughter.
Tommy’s daughter, Brhett was the love of his life. He affectionately nicknamed her “Baby”. He always looked forward to seeing her and spending time with her. Tommy’s greatest wish was that Brhett would always know how much he loved her, how proud he was to be her Dad and that she walked through the rest of her life knowing that he would be there for her; now, watching over her.
