Herman A. Gilmore, Jr.

Herman A. Gilmore Jr. was called home to rest on November 28, 2021 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 81. He was married to and survived by the love of his life for 60 years, Helen Theriot Gilmore. Son of the late Herman A. Gilmore Sr. and Louise Gilmore. Brother of the late Catherine G. Sampere and Dorothy G. Meyers. Loving father of Darlene G. Whittington (the late Jerry), Vickie G. Hunter (Blake) and Cynthia G. Seacat (Russell). Proud grandfather of the late Blake William Hunter Jr., Amanda Whittington Badeaux (Tommy), Andrew Thomas Whittington (Sean), Russell Holland Seacat IV, and Race Holland Seacat. Great grandfather of Tommy James Badeaux Jr. and Brody Thomas Badeaux.

Herman was born on May 16, 1940 in New Orleans, LA. He was a devout Catholic. He proudly served in the US Navy. He was a talented tenor saxophone player and an original member of the Rhythm and Blues band, The Jokers. He was an inductee of both, Louisiana Music Hall of Fame and New Orleans Music Hall of Fame. Herman was retired from Bunzl USA, and in his retirement, co-owned Joker Distributing. He was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for bass fishing and was a Saints football fan, never missing a chance to root for his team.

He will be sadly missed by a host of nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to express their appreciation to Passages Hospice.
