She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Gretna, LA for the past 54 years. Gloria graduated from Sophie B. Wright High School and worked for Falstaff Brewing Company. She was a devoted wife and mother whose life revolved around her family and friends. She was always volunteering and involved in all of her children and then grandchildren’s activities; chaperoning parties and dances, coaching softball, taxi driver, St. Cletus Church fairs, Senior Olympics. She served as Queen and Captain of the JPRD Golden Agers for the Oakdale Golden Agers Club. As a Navy Submarine wife she was “mom” to all of the young wives and girlfriends and she belonged to several Sub Vets and Sub Base organizations; Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Assoc. Unit 162; and American Legion Post 64 Auxiliary. Gloria had a very strong faith and she lived her faith every day of her life by the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.” She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her and her beautiful smile. A very small ceremony will be held for just the immediate family. In keeping with her wishes, a joyous celebration of her life will be scheduled in the near future and everyone will be welcome to join us then. “Thank God for you, Mama, the Wind Beneath Our Wings.”
