Loving aunt to Barbara Crawford , Darrell Crawford (Shirley), Debra Crawford (Mark), the late Patrick Pippin, Daisy Pippin and many nieces and nephews. She was born in East Berlin, Germany and resided in Harvey, Louisiana.
Gisela, originally born in East Berlin Germany, was certified as a Baker. She was accompanied by her mother Elli and sister Erica, sponsored to immigrate to the United States after escaping communist control, by the Charles C Kennedy American Legion Post 275 in Chicopee, Massachusetts. On December 13th, 1956 after a 12 year separation, the family reunited with Gisela’s sister Ursula and Bill Crawford, whom had petitioned for their asylum. Gisela worked hard to achieve her US Citizenship, was a proud conservative patriot, who was grateful for the opportunity she was gifted, to chase the American Dream.

Gisela married the late Alton R Corbeille and started her family in Chicopee, Mass. She was a seamstress and a master knitter. Gisela was a fabulous cook. Traditional German dishes were her specialty.
She then moved in 1974 to be closer to her sisters and mother, to Louisiana, the home state of Bill Crawford.
Gisela worked at Visko’s restaurant for 14 years and considered every employee like family. She still brags about teaching all the Terrytown kids, whom she loved, the value of hard work. She was a self-employed wallpaper installer until retirement.
Gisela is a member of the Fleet Reserve Branch 162 in Gretna, La. She loved the members of the fleet and enjoyed many birthday celebrations, Saints games, and loved to cook for all of her friends. Gisela loved her “Plaisance Bar” family as well. She loved socializing, dancing and was never afraid to share her point of view!
Gisela will be cherished in the memories of many and terribly missed by her family.
May God bless and rest her soul, God Speed.
