Gerald "Jerry" Paul Burkart

July 14, 1965 — April 20, 2021

Gerald "Jerry" Burkart passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at the age of 55. Beloved husband of Dana Cavalier Burkart his “Queen” for 27 years. Father of Kyle and Jena Burkart who were undoubtedly his pride and joy. Son of George “Pops” Burkart and Norma Burkart. Brother of Janet Naumann (Russell), Randall Burkart, Joel Burkart, Andra Walker (William). Son in law of Leroy Cavalier (Lisa) and the late Sandra Nicholai Guerra. Brother in law of Daniel Cavalier (Trisha). Uncle of Haley, Sayde, Carley, Brandon, Rani, Sarah, Logan, Caleb, Madison, Justin, Jeremy, Jack, Gary, Marcus, and Alyssa. Also survived by 6 Great-Nieces.
Jerry was a Superintendent and worked for Larry Lloyd Construction. He was a proud Brother of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity of Nicholls State University in the late 80’s. He was also a Member of the Men’s Club of Visitation of Our Lady in early 2000.
He enjoyed spending his spare time on the field. Over the years he has coached many Little League Baseball Teams and currently coaching Makos 10U Baseball of Mandeville. He will forever be the teams Angel in the Outfield.
He will always be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, coach, DJ, and friend; who loved people, life, sports, camping, and music. He was selfless, kind, giving and always wanting to help others. His generosity and personality touched the hearts of all who knew him. Giving back to the community was near and dear to his heart. He would spin records, play your favorite tune, and loved the sight of seeing people on their feet dancing to the beat. We hope you join us in keeping his memory alive and always remember his famous words…It’s All About the Music!
