George Allen Coate Jr.

On Saturday, April 11, 2020, George Allen Coate Jr., loving father and brother, passed away at the age of 75. He was born on March 12th, 1945 in New Orleans, graduated from Behrman High School in 1963 and was currently a resident of Gonzales, Louisiana. He was the son of Lillian and George Coate Sr., who preceded him in death as did his wife, Kathie. Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter Marcie, sister Marcy (Tony), sister-in-law Trudy, wife Anita, nephews John and Darin, niece Christie (Randy), best bro Gary, and many friends and extended family. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and was passionate about rescuing and saving stray neighborhood cats. He wrote and published two books during his lifetime and was a musician who loved the New Orleans Saints, horse racing and oyster po-boys.
A private graveside service will be held at St. Bernard Memorial Gardens, Chalmette, LA. Mothe Funeral Homes handled arrangements. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to the Louisiana ASPCA in George’s name.
