George G. Champagne

George G. Champagne, age 95, passed away June 22, 2021. Beloved husband of the late Thelma “Sue” Danos Champagne. Father of the late Chad M. Champagne. Son of the late Pauline Schaubhut and J.W. Champagne. Preceded in death by his siblings, Joan Dubos, Alverda Jaloway, Vergie Christian, Daniel, Albert, Hubert and Guy Champagne. Grandfather of Sheri Champagne, Paul Champagne and the late Scot Champagne. Special thanks to Sandra Lacayo, ex daughter-in-law and specials friends, Sara and Dale Price who all assisted in his care. Thanks to his care team (Ingra, Cassandra, Moneka, Andrea, Gayle, Daniella, Melissa, Kaci, Monica, Melony and Chaplain Craig) with Compassus Hospice.
Survived by a host of nieces and nephews. A veteran of WWII European Campaign. A former member of VFW Post 6793, Westwego, LA. Past resident of Marrero and Westwego for 47 years. Native and current resident of Des Allemands, LA.
Relatives, friends and former employees of Johns-Mansville Corp are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St Gertrude Catholic Church, 17292 Hwy 631, Des Allemands, LA on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at 11am. Visitation will be held at the church from 9am until 11am. Interment, OLPS Mausoleum, Westwego, LA. In lieu of flowers, a donation to any veterans organization would be appreciated.
