Gene Joseph Portier Sr.

Gene Joseph Portier, Sr. entered into eternal rest on January 30, 2021. Beloved husband of June Dell Gros Portier for 57 years. Father of Gladys Eva Portier (Harold Gabriel) and Gene Portier, Jr. Grandfather of Megan Portier and Jacob Portier. Son of the late Gladys Bergeron Portier and Cyril Joseph Portier, Sr. Brother of Robert Portier (late Camille), Harry Portier (Vanessa), and the late Cyril Portier, Jr. (Beverly), Raymond Portier, Patricia Dufrene (Gary), and Larry Portier (Sarah). Also survived by Amy Guidry, who was like a daughter to him, her daughter, Dupre, and numerous nieces and nephews. Age 80 years, a native of Thibodaux, LA and resident of Harvey, LA for the past 55 years. Gene retired from Gray Tool Company in 2002. He was known as “Heavy Duty” among his coworkers for his handy work and always made rockers and swings. He could fix anything and enjoyed working in his yard. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the Chapel of MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy, Harvey, LA on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 11 AM.
