Gary J. Breaux passed away peacefully at his daughter Julie’s home in Mandeville, LA on April 12, 2021 at the age of 79. Gary was born in Napoleonville, LA on November 18, 1941 to Edna Solar Breaux & Junius P. Breaux. He lived most of his childhood with his family in Napoleonville before moving with his family to Marrero, LA in 1950. After graduating from West Jefferson High School in 1961, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years. He is survived by his former wife, Sonya Chaisson Breaux. They had three daughters from their marriage & beloved father of Jody Anne Pope (David), Julie Anne VanderMolen (John), & Jan Marie Giammolva; 5 grandchildren, Chase VanderMolen (Ana), Ryan VanderMolen, Blaine McCormick, Julia McCormick, & Chandler Pope; 3 great grandchildren, Kylie, Landon, & Beckham, & one brother, David Breaux (Virginia). He was a beloved husband of his current & surviving wife, of 32 years, Joan Roussel Mediamolle Breaux. Gary has two step-children, Leo Mediamolle (Terry) & Marie Mediamolle Howenstine (Rick), & two step-grandchildren, Addison & Austin (Katherine), cousins, nieces, & nephews. Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Junius & Edna Breaux, & his oldest daughter, Jody Anne Breaux Pope. Gary was also employed by First National Bank of Jefferson Parish for 10 years. He worked for Hausmann’s Jewelers for 20 years & also for Lee Michaels Jewelers in sales & also with a degree in Gemology for 15 years. He was also a member of the American Legion, Post 222 in Marrero, LA. Gary was an active parishioner of St. Anthony Church in Gretna serving as a Eucharistic Minister. I would like to thank the great care given to Gary during his final days by his nurses, Donna Berbling, Margue Hamilton, and Parisian James, his Aide, Erica, his Social Worker, Crystal Stanley, & his Spiritual Counselor, John Cook, and all others who have assisted in Gary’s care from AmeraCare Family Hospice. Relatives & friends are invited to attend visitation from 11:00am- 1:00pm; Funeral Mass at 1:00 pm on Monday, April 19, 2021 at St. Anthony Church, 924 Monroe St., Gretna, LA 70053.
