Francis Albert Chapman passed away on December 30, 2021. He was born the son of Albert and Violet (Harrison) Chapman in Bloomington, IL on August 22, 1938. He was preceded in death by his sister Mary (Berley) Dodson and is survived by another sister Ann (Harold) Legner.
Francis married Sandra Jean Stone on March 18, 1961, who preceded him in death on April 27, 2000. He is survived by their two daughters, Lori Stelljes (Craig) and Debbie (Danny) Blanchard, both of Marrero, LA. He was also the proud grandfather to four grandchildren, John (Denise) Stelljes, Wesley (Rachel) Blanchard, Courtney (Jared) Termine, and Brandon Blanchard as well as the great-grandfather to Jacey and Sadie Stelljes, Grey and Clare Blanchard, and Kaden Termine.
He was also preceded in death by his second wife, Laverne Lemoine Chapman.
Francis graduated from Chenoa High School in 1956 and thereafter attended Beloit College, where he earned a Chemical Engineering degree. Francis was employed by Union Carbide (now Dow), and proudly retired after 38 years of service.
True to his roots, Francis was an enthusiastic vegetable gardener, forever sharing the fruits of his labor with family and friends. He loved being outdoors, be it for playing golf, perfecting his lawn, or playing with his treasured grandchildren. He will forever be in our hearts.
A private memorial service will be held.
