Eva Mae Valois Nieves

Eva Mae Valois Nieves, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, October 11, 2020 at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Demetrio “Chico” Nieves, Jr.; great grandson, Jacob Weeks; her great great grandsons, Tyler and Dawson Neff; her parents, Jerand Valois and Leda Lemoine Valois; and several siblings. She is the loving mother of Juanita Gautreaux, David Nieves (Charlotte), Brenda Nieves, Yvonne Nieves (Roy Robinson), Demetrio “D.J.” Nieves III (Brenda) and Yolanda Jensen (Bill). She is the devoted grandmother of Eddie Dewhirst (Tiffany), Christopher Dewhirst, Randy Powell, Demetrio “Little D.J.” IV, Kellie Nieves (Rocky Sonnier), Walter Weeks (Dahlia El-Shafei), Damian Weeks (Theresa), Crystal Weeks (Shawn), Aimee Nieves, Hollie Muth (Jim), Shana Nieves, Lindsey Durham(Whitney), and Harlee Prejeant (Mitch). She is also survived by 25 great- grandchildren, 7 great great- grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. A devoted Catholic, Eva enjoyed gardening, feeding the wild birds, helping neighbors; and preparing Sunday meals for the family. She was above all, a devoted and loving wife, mother and a grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Visitation on Saturday, October 24, 2020 beginning at 11:00 AM followed by a Memorial Funeral Mass at 1:30 PM from the Chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA.
