Ethel Green Walker was born in Ponchatoula, Louisiana on May 20, 1939. She was the beloved daughter of Nelson Green, Sr., and Gertrude Evans Green. She moved to New Orleans in her late teens and has been a resident for over 65 years.
Ethel accepted Christ at an early age. She joined Sacred Heart Catholic Church of New Orleans. Ethel has been a faithful member of Christ the King Catholic Church for over 25 years.
Ethel’s life was spent helping those in need. A kind word, a warm meal, or motherly advice she never met a stranger. She retired as a private duty sitter and home health aide.
Ethel was married to Charles Joseph Pitt III and five children were born to that union. Her second husband was Wayne Wesley Walker. She was preceded in death by both her first and second husband. Ethel loved cooking, gardening, traveling, and providing words of wisdom to anyone who needed them.
She leaves to cherish her memory four daughters, Gwendolyn Smith, Gail P Gibson, Paulette Pitt, and Dione Dunbar, one son Charles Pitt, one sister Deloris Jones, one son-in-law Karl W. Gibson, one brother-in-law Bruce Jones, 16 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends. Family and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at Christ The King Catholic Church, 535 Deerfield Road, Terrytown, Louisiana on Friday, August 13, 2021 from 9AM until 11AM. A Funeral Mass will be held at Christ The King Catholic Church on Friday at 11AM. Interment will be in Providence Memorial Park Cemetery, 8200 Airline Drive, Metairie, Louisiana.
