Ernest Edward Drennan, 75 of New Orleans, LA, passed away June 19th, 2022 after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was born March 27th, 1947 in San Diego, CA. To his family and friends he was Ed Drennan, to his listeners he was Eddie Edwards or Crazy Eddie of Crazy Eddie and the Breakfast Flakes. He started his over 50 year career in radio at San Diego State in a broadcasting class. In the years to follow, he could be heard on the radio from Nashville to Los Angeles and at one point in his career, all the way in Mexico. He found his home though, when he landed at WNOE. During his tenure there, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. The award secured his legendary status and was a testament to the level of greatness he had reached in his career.
When he wasn’t on the airwaves, you could find him playing numerous musical instruments or on the tennis courts entertaining others. He was a showman and he excelled at it. Anyone who knew him would say “Eddie was always “on” and entertaining us” and that he did. Now he’s off to the pearly gates and life is a little less lively down here… but in his words “That’s showbiz, BABY”.
He is preceded in death by his Mother, Wilma Drennan and Father, Ernest Drennan. He is survived by his loving wife, Marie Drennan; Sons and their spouses, Tyler Drennan (Andrea) and Dillon Drennan (Ashley); Daughter, Leah Drennan and Grandsons, Blake Drennan, Grant Drennan and another Baby Boy Drennan who will make his way into this world in November. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St Jude Hospital,
