Eridania Altagracia Martinez

Eridania A. Martinez was a great woman, mother, daughter, friend, sister, and partner. She entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at the age of 42 surrounded by her family in the comfort of her home.

She is survived by her parents, Lorenzo Martinez and Lidia M. Rodriguez, her life partner, Denyis Paez, her beloved kids, Gabriel and Gianna (Gigi) Paez, sisters Giselle and Yanni Valentin, and brother, Marlon Martinez. She is also survived by her nieces, nephews and Godchildren who she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Leoncio Rodriguez, step-father, Nelson Valentin, brother, Marlon Martinez and an aunt, Delfina Henriquez.

Eridania was born in Tamboril, Santiago, Dominican Republic. She attended North Rockland High School where she played basketball and graduated in 1994. She went on to attend the Pennsylvania State University where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business in 1998 and was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. She was an active member of the African-American and Hispanic communities. Eridania was employed by Morgan Stanley for 18 years up until her death where she enjoyed every minute of her work, coworkers and boss.

Eridania was an extraordinarily strong woman, who for 9 years fought cancer. Her selfless care of others was admired by everyone who crossed her path. She had a one of a kind smile that brightened up a room. She loved to sing, dance and stepping. Eridania was always the life of the party; her charisma was simply contagious. Her friends and family can attest to her unconditional and selfless love. She will be greatly missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial at 11am on Monday, November 16, 2020 at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, in Harvey. Interment is at Westlawn Memorial Park in Gretna. Visitation will begin Sunday, November 15, 2020 at 6pm until 8pm, and again on Monday, November 16, 2020 at 9am until 11am also at Mothe Funeral Home.
