Emile "Do" Bush Jr.
July 10, 1933 — December 19, 2018
Emile “Do” Bush Jr., passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at the age of 85. He was born in New Orleans but was a lifelong resident of Gretna, LA.
Emile is preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Bush; his parents, Camelia Gaudet Bush and Emile Bush Sr. and grandson, Ryan Bush. He is survived by his partner, Sylvia Lambert; son, David “Mike” Bush Sr. (Deborah); step-daughter, Sharon Petitt; sister, Deanna Gainey and aunt, Enola Bruce.
Emile is also survived by two grandchildren, Necole Sellars (David), David “Mikey” Bush Jr. (Tabatha); one step-granddaughter, Jeanne Meyers along with six great-grandchildren, Krista, Gavin, Parris, Kaden, Kaili and Cody. He was also uncle to his two nieces, Angela Grundmeyer (Wade) and Angelle Gainey (Corey).
Emile served for many years with the Gretna Police Department before moving over to Avondale Shipyard from which he retired. In his later years, he enjoyed being a crossing guard for the students at the former Archbishop Blenk High School. Emile was also a former member of the Westbank Marching Club and Loyal Order of the Moose.
Emile was always the jokester. He loved to make people smile and laugh and those who crossed his path were in no doubt, greeted with a dirty joke, even if it being your first meeting. He also loved the outdoors, especially camping which had taken him all over the country. At Christmas, he loved and was known for setting up his beautiful Nativity scene in his front window and for which last year, was awarded 1st place in the Gretna decorating contest. Emile will be deeply missed.
The family would like to thank the employees and nurses at Heart of Hospice for their wonderful care.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOMES, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Thursday, December 27, 2018 from 10am to 1:30pm. Services will follow in the funeral home chapel. Interment Our Lady of Prompt Succor Mausoleum in Westwego.
