Elaine Lois Weber Nunez passed away peacefully on February 7, 2021 at the age of 88. Beloved wife of the late Victor P. Nunez, III and the late Jack Barattini. Mother of Gary Barattini (Cathy), Gayle Barattini and Melissa “Missy” Nunez Goodson (Jimmy). Grandmother of Laila Elaine Dallam, Nicholas David Barattini, Edward Raymond “Ned” Dallam, Kathryn Anna “Kate” Barattini, Lee Mark James Goodson and Brice Victor Goodson. Great-grandmother of Derrick Michael Dallam, Olivia Elizabeth Dallam, Nathanial Jon “Nate” Barattini and Norah Kate Barattini. Sister of the late Audrey Mix. Daughter of the late Lawrence Weber and Leona Baudier Weber. Also survived by other loving relatives and friends. Elaine was a longtime member of Salem Evan. Lutheran Church and most recently, Trinity Lutheran Church. She was once a member of Women’s Aglow and always enjoyed her Bible Study group. Elaine studied at the Loyola University Conservatory of music for many years from the age of 14 through age 26. She performed weekly on the radio at Schram studios on Canal Street in her youth. She attended and graduated from Nichols High School. At the age of 17 she participated and won the Metropolitan Opera Auditions of the Air held in New Orleans and sang with the New Orleans Philharmonic Orchestra the following year. After high school she performed with her friend Audrey Shue, Norma Treagle and Charlie Caruso, who later went on to be a metropolitan opera
star in New York. She has always fondly remembered her days performing with the other members of the Loyola Conservatory of Music in productions around town. In 2016 she was honored with a Certificate from the Dean of Loyola Music Department for her honored service in years past. She was a soprano soloist at many of the churches on St. Charles Avenue including the St. Charles Avenue Baptist Church, Temple Sinai, and the Presbyterian Church
in the 1950s. Throughout her lifetime she has shared her voice with the church and graced many with her gift in praise of the Lord. Private Graveside Services will be held at Westlawn Memorial Park, 1225 Whitney Avenue, Gretna, LA on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 1:30pm. Respectful of current guidelines, all attendees must wear their own mask/face covering and practice distancing.
