Edward F Melancon

January 29, 1946 — December 19, 2021

Edward Francis Melancon died peacefully at Ochsner Medical Center - Main Campus on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at the age of 75. Edward is survived by 4 daughters, Michelle Schwabauer (Karl), Annie Melancon; Laura Melancon and Jennifer Kenney (Gene). His pride and joy were his grandchildren, Lucy Schwabauer (13), Kamryn Schwabauer (9), Kenzley Marks (5), Benjamin Melancon (14), Devin Kenney (17) and Bryson Kenney (14). Ed was younger brother to Lolan Melancon (Eria Faye) and older brother to Anne Melancon (Lloyd). He is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Lolan Melancon; mother, Maurice Melancon; older brother John Miller Melancon; wife of 20 years, his darling Vanessa Melancon and former wife, Kendra Melancon (mother of Michelle, Annie and Laura). He graduated from LA Tech in 1967 as an electrical engineer but his passion was spreading the Gospel. Edward was deeply rooted in his Faith in God and could be found serving others at every opportunity he was given. Celebration Church was his home where he served as Deacon for many years. A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, December 30, 2021, at 3:00 at Mothe Funeral Home in Harvey where Pastor Dennis Watson/Pastor David Ford will officiate the service. Visitation will be held prior to the services from 1:00-3:00. The service will be a celebration of Edward’s life, and all are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to a charity of your choice! He gave to many different organizations and was an avid cat lover.
The family would like to thank the ICU team and 9th floor staff at Ochsner Medical Center -Main Campus for the great care that he received.
