Earl Jules "E.J." Geiling Jr.

Earl Jules “ E.J.” Geiling Jr., resident of Harvey, LA passed away on Monday, December 7, 2020 at the age of 82. Beloved husband of 64 years to Renella Champagne Geiling. Loving father of Lynne Harris (Lewis), and Donna Fiest. Loving paw paw of Kelli Harris Champagne (Rodney), Kristy Harris Cortez (B.J.), Lacie Fiest Arledge (Micah), Lewis M. Harris and Cortney Fiest (Robb). Loving great grandfather of Abbi Champagne, Allie Champagne and one on the way. Also survived by many other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, the late Earl J. Geiling, Sr. and his mother, the late Celine Drago Wedge. Earl served his country in the US Navy for six years. He was a retired Captain of the Gretna Police Department and also served with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Louisiana Department of Justice and Jefferson Parish Gaming Division. After retiring, he was employed at Base Logistics and was the traffic enforcement Hearing Officer for Gretna and Westwego. He was a member of VFW 3121, Knights of Columbus 1905, FOP Lodge 24 and Delta Lions Club. Earl was an avid Saints and LSU fan, he enjoyed going on cruises but his biggest passion was his family, whom he loved to spend his time with. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Infant Jesus of Prague Catholic Church, 700 Maple Street, Harvey, LA on Friday, December 11, 2020 at 10:30am. Visitation will be held at the church from 9am until 10:30am. All those attending must wear a mask and social distance when able. Interment, Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
