Earl J. Buras Jr

Earl J. Buras, Jr. passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021 at the age of 93. Beloved husband of the late Beatrice Elaine Buras for 70 years. Father of Susan L. Buras and James C. Buras (Lynette). Grandfather of Heather Ferrer, and Laurel Alonzo (Dustin). Great grandfather of Carly Oliver and Cameron Oliver. Son of the late Earl J. Buras, Sr. and Cecile Buras Mathis. Brother of the late Marian Hooks and Lois Michel. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was born in Fort Benning, Georgia, grew up in Algiers and was a longtime resident of the Gretna area. He was a 5 1/2 year veteran of the U.S. Navy (1945-1948) (1950-1952), former employee of Continental Can Company, a retiree of the Domino Sugar Refinery, and longtime usher at St. Cletus Catholic Church for over 50 years. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Cletus Catholic Church, 3600 Claire Avenue, Gretna, LA on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at 12 noon. Visitation will be held at the church from 10am until 12noon.
