Dwayne Joseph Guidry

April 13, 1962 — February 23, 2021

Dwayne Joseph Guidry, a native of Gretna, LA and resident of Meraux, LA, entered peacefully into Heaven, with his family by his side, on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at age 58. He is survived by his devoted wife, Wanda Oubre Guidry of 11 years. Loving father of Dwayne “DJ” Guidry, Jr. (April) and Jonathan Guidry (Mariah) and step-father of Steven Crawford, Jr. (ReBecca) and Amber Crawford (Michail). Proud grandfather of Adalyn, Davin and Avalyn Guidry, Jonathan, Dreux and Oaklynn Guidry, Haylee, Tyler, Chandler, Macie, Embree (Benoit) and Raegan Crawford, and Bentley and Emily Martin. Beloved son of Buster Joseph and Nancy (Braud) Guidry. Brother of Nanette Johnson (Bill). Beloved son-in-law of Rosalie Oubre and the late Wayne Oubre. Brother-in-law of Wayne (Butch) Oubre, Jr. (Margaret) and Wendi Bowman (Ed). Honored Godfather of Danielle Jiles Plummer. Adored boyfriend of Krewe of Cleopatra’s Daina’s Divas. He is also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who have become family, who will miss him dearly.
Dwayne had a one of a kind personality, he could be the life of the party or “The Grinch”, you never knew who was going to show up. He loved his wife with his whole heart and there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do with or for her to make her happy; from eloping; to decorating Mardi Gras glasses; to dress shopping even though he was colorblind; to making class treats for their grandchildren; to Black Friday shopping, the list can go on forever. He enjoyed every minute they spent together and always tried to make the best of it.
He cherished his relationships with his four children and was very proud of their many accomplishments. He spent much of his younger years with DJ and Jonathan, watching them play baseball, ride motorcycles and just enjoying their time together. He strived to be the best father and it showed through the loving relationships he had with his sons. He adored his fourteen grandchildren and never missed an event if he could help it. He attended many dance recitals, sporting events, school functions, religious events, and birthday parties with a smile on his face.
He is deeply missed by Nyla, his dog and best friend. Most of his days and nights this last year were spent holding her on the sofa and playing with her in the yard. She now spends her days sitting in his sofa spot, watching the door waiting for him to come home. While our days won’t ever be the same without him, we know he is at peace and will be watching and protecting us from above, until we meet again.
