Our loving mom, Duom Thi Tran went home to be with the Lord on April 08, 2021 at the age of 96 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 27, 1925 in a small village, Bui Chu, Viet Nam. Her Father was Lam Van Tran and her mother, Ai Thi Tran. She lost both of her parents at the age of thirteen, and had to give one of her youngest baby sister to the convent to raise her, while she raised the two other siblings, Lam Van Tran, and Nhuan Thi Tran whom preceded her in death. Mom met our dad, the late Ninh Van Tran, whom preceded her in death in 1998, together they have thirteen children, of which twelve were born in Viet Nam, and one in the United States in 1975. Mom lived half of her life in Viet Nam until the fall of Saigon in 1975. The family fled by boat and was rescued by the United States Navy and brought to Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania. Then, the family was sponsored by the Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans to Jefferson Parish, and have been living there till her death.
Our mom was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and a devoted Catholic. God always came first in her life, she went to church daily as a faithful lamb to God. She possessed a kind heart, and a gentle soul to all that came to know her. She also loved spending time in the kitchen creating delicious meals for our big family. Some of our favorite moments with mom is family get together on Sundays after church to enjoy her famous pho. Mom also enjoyed gardening, fishing, and dressing up in her Ao Dai for mass. Her longevity, beautiful life will always be cherished and remembered by her children, grand children and great grand children.
