Douglas Joseph Berdou

January 8, 1935 — December 18, 2017

Douglas Joseph Berdou, a native of the City of New Orleans, passed away on Dec. 18,2017 at Chateau de Notre Dame where he was a resident for the past five years. Beloved son of the late Pearl Prejean Berdou and Henry Foret Berdou and brother of James J. Berdou, (Houston) he is survived by three nephews, two nieces, five grandnephews, three grandnieces, and numerous cousins including, Virginia B. Urquhart, his care advocate.
He was an alumnus of Sacred Heart High School's Class of '52 and Loyola University Class of '60 and served a tour of duty with the US Army Signal Corps. His business career encompassed management positions with Mansion Blanche, and later as a stockbroker with Francis I DuPont, plus service on the Staff of Louisiana Securities Commission. He was also a former member of several Choirs, Square and Round Dance groups in the City.
A funeral Mass will be held Wed. Dec 27th, at l:00 PM at St. Theresa of Avila Church, Erato St., where, he had served as an usher. Fellow members of the Secular Order of Servants of Mary are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Mary's Helpers, Inc., 45127th St, Marrero, LA 70072.
