Dorothy Thornton Granier peacefully entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at the age of 93. Beloved wife of the late Daniel Joseph Granier. Daughter of the late Lawrence H. Thornton, Sr. and Martha Pierson Thornton. Loving mother of Diane G. Harker (George) and Debra G. Perrin (Rodney). Beloved grandmother of Dawn E. Harker, Ian G. Harker, Michelle Perrin and Ronda P Gottlieb. Sister of the late Lawrence Thornton, Jr. Dorothy is also survived by 8 great grandchildren. She was born in Chicago, IL and a resided in New Orleans, LA. She served her country while enlisted in the United States Army. She enlisted the Army in Ft. Sheridan, ILL; she did her basic training in Ft. Oglethorpe, GA. She was a WAC in the Hospital Corp. in Springfield, MO where she met her beloved husband, Daniel. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 1300 Vallette Street, Algiers, LA on Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 5PM until 7PM. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Monday, January 22, 2018 from 10AM until 11AM. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 11AM.
