Dawn Campiso Schaffer

Dawn Campiso Schaffer entered into eternal rest on Saturday, November 21, 2020. She was the beloved wife of Sal Schaffer. Mother of Kaeleigh and Troy (Chasie) Bourgeois, and Kyra (Justin) Schaffer. Daughter of Pamela (Mike) Campiso and Tim (Rose) Campiso. Beloved sister to the late Brandy Campiso. When Dawn tragically lost her best friend, she took in Brandy’s children, her niece and nephew, Amber Chopin-Smith (Nicholas) and Dante’ Jarmon as her own. Nonna to Karleigh and Isaiah Juge, Jude and Ryder Richard, A’lijah, Alonzo, and Neeko Smith, and baby Bourgeois.

Paternal granddaughter of Rose L. Campiso and the late James “Sonny” Campiso, Jr. Maternal granddaughter of Vivian Boudreaux and the late Herman Boudreaux, Sr. Great-granddaughter of the late Alice and James “Pappy” Campiso, Sr., Joseph and Laura Percle, Amos and Agnes Bourgeois, and Felicity Loupe and Judith Gisclair Loupe Orgeron. Survived by a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Age 43 years, and a lifelong resident of Lafitte, La. Dawn eventually move to Barataria, La, where she became the proud owner of Nonna’s Heart, which she opened in her little home in 2018. She was a crafter at heart and created amazing keepsakes for much of New Orleans and surrounding areas. She went on to move to Carriere, MS, where her loving husband built her, her very own workshop on their property. Dawn was planning on having a store front for customers to be able to walk in and see some of her creations in person, before her life was tragically taken.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a funeral mass on Friday, December 4, 2020 at 9:30am at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA. Visitation will begin on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at 6:00pm until 7:00PM and again on Friday, December 4, 2020 at 8AM until 9:30AM. Interment at St. Pius X Cemetery in Crown Point, LA.
