Captain Danny A. Pizzolato Sr. passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday July 17, 2021 at the age of 74 due to complications caused by liver cancer.
Mr. Pizzolato was born in Donaldsonville, LA and a lifelong resident of Marrero, LA. He was a Veteran in the Army that served over seas in the Korea and Vietnam War. He was a tugboat captain for the majority of his life working at Progressive Barge Line for over 30 years and, most recently, Kirby Inland Marine. Mr. Pizzolato is preceded in death by his parents Lucius and Sadiona Pizzolato, his brother Adam Legendre, two sisters Kathy Williamson and Anita Demirie, his twin sister Dianne Pizzolato and his loving wife of over 30 years Mary Pizzolato. He is survived by four biological children Danny Pizzolato Jr. (Tanya), Bonnie Pizzolato, Michael Pizzolato (Judy), Danielle Pizzolato (Jimi), one step daugher, whom he treated like his own, Annette Lutz and her husband George Lutz who he treated as a son. He and George did everything together. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren including Darien Dedeaux (Ashton), Joel Taylor Jr., lzaiah Cortez, Zaiden Duong, his step granddaughter Mallory Lutz "the baby': eleven great-grand children including Kasyn, Kamdyn, Addilyn and Aspyn and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mr. Pizzolato will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 11am at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, La 70058. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9am.
