She lived her life with grace and love and passed with grace and love. Cynthia Mary Guidry Dike was a testament to strong family, loyal friends, and steadfast faith. “Cindy” was a graduate of Our Lady of Prompt Succor and Archbishop Blenk, and a member of St. John Bosco where she sang in the choir. First a partner with Rhoda Faust and then the owner of Maple Street Children’s Book Shop, she influenced many girls and boys. Harry Potter book events, a fabled Visa commercial, holiday parties and Storytime enchanted children and parents. The ‘fun club” was another family Cynthia celebrated with. Mardi Gras, house parties, vacations, and life in general were a source of joy. Her laughter and wit will be missed by her “gang”.
Cynthia is preceded in death by her parents and lifelong natives of Westwego, Edmond “Bud” Guidry and Annie B Guidry. She leaves behind her loving husband of 52 years, John Chilton Dike: son Adam Dike, wife Karen, and treasured grandchildren Evet and Kaitlyn of Castle Rock, Colorado; son Andrew and wife Emily; sister Sandra Wallins and husband, Joel of New Iberia.
Heartfelt thanks to all the dedicated folks at the Gail and Tom Benson Cancer Center, Notre Dame Hospice (Thank you, Deborah, and Sheila), and to Cynthia’s special friend, Dr. Don Adams, for his many kindnesses.
In lieu of flowers, at Cynthia’s request, donation to go to Notre Dame Hospice.
For as long as we live, she too will live, for she is now a part of us, as we remember her.
