Charles John Arnold, age 81, passed away peacefully into the Lord’s arms at Ochsner hospital in Gretna, LA on February 26, 2021 after his battle with stage 4 liver cancer since early 2020. Charles is survived by Ellouise Bladsacker Arnold his wife of 59 years. He is preceded in death by his parents George Arnold and Florence Verneuil Arnold. Although they never had any children of their own, he is survived by many loving nieces and nephews that he treated as his own. He was born on July 31, 1939 in Gretna, Louisiana. Charles and Ellouise were married on January 20, 1962.
He graduated from LSU in 1962 with a Poultry Degree and also attended Loyola University to continued his education in computer programming. Charles enlisted in the United State Air Force in 1962 where he rose to the rank of Lt Col with a distinguished career over the next 20 years. He then retired from the military and began his civilian job with Jefferson Parish Manpower Program serving as Assistant Director and retired in 1999 with a 26-year career.
Charles enjoyed traveling with his wife Ellouise throughout their marriage to many wonderful places all over the world, including cruises with Holland American. He enjoyed talking to anyone that would listen about military, war history or watching war movies. He loved watching the New Orleans Saints football games and was extremely happy to see them win a Superbowl.
As an eternal optimist, Charles believed in hard work, self-reliance, determination, integrity, and service to his country. He will be missed, and we will always remember him.

The life of Charles John Arnold will be celebrated at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 1225 Whitney Ave, Terrytown, LA 70056 on March 5, 2021 at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests Masses in his honor or a donation to the American Cancer Society.
