Carol-Ann "Candy" Jensen

d. December 11, 2020

Carol-Ann “Candy” Jensen passed away peacefully on December 11, 2020 at the age of 79. Beloved and deeply devoted wife of Robert E. Jensen, mother of Robert J. Jensen, Marrero, and Col (Ret) William P. Jensen, USAF, and daughter-in-law Mary E. Jensen (Titus), Fairfax Station, Virginia, and grandmother (“Grandy”) of Joshua C. Jensen, Ryanna M. Jensen and Christiana G. Jensen. She was the only daughter of the late Mary Rita Getchell Curit and Carroll Jackson Curit. Also survived by other loving family members and friends.

Candy graduated from Old Orchard Beach (Maine) high school in 1959 where she was heavily involved in many activities to include cheerleading and Class Secretary. She graduated from Maine Medical Center’s nursing program in 1962, and later achieved her Registered Nurse designation. She married the love of her life, Bob, in 1963 and settled in Millis, Massachusetts. Due to Bob’s work in the marine industry, she relocated with her young family to Marrero in 1966, where she initially served at West Jefferson Hospital. In 1968, she assumed a position as a Public Health Nurse for Jefferson Parish where she cared for the parish’s most vulnerable communities for nearly 10 years. She then co-developed the Jefferson Parish Public Schools Nurse Program and was the Nursing Coordinator for nearly 10 years. She provided critical healthcare to thousands of the parish’s school children. Candy was always busy hosting visitors, planning events, serving on the Plantation Estates Home Owners Association, cooking, gardening and traveling.

Candy will always be remembered for her genuine kindness, unconditional love, zest for life, multiple deely boppers, seasonal vests, gumbo, pumpkin bread, over-the-top Christmas celebrations, and extensive yard decorations. She touched the lives of so many during her wonderful life. She was the kind of person that never met a stranger. While her passing is sorrowful, her life and legacy will be celebrated.
