Carmen Coste (nee Perez) entered eternal life with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at the age of 79. Born on March 8, 1942, Carmen was the beloved wife of Herman Coste, Sr. She attended Corpus Christi Catholic School and Xavier Preparatory High School. Carmen was employed by Woolworth and later, Quick Cash Western Union and was a member of Saint Cletus Catholic Church.
As anyone who knew her will tell you, she was an excellent cook, loved to laugh and, with her husband, dedicated her time and effort to their families.
Carmen was preceded in death by her parents, George V. Perez, Sr. and Bessie Mae Laurent; her stepmothers, Evelyn Boswell and Elizabeth Thomas; father-in-law, Uless Coste, and mother-in-law, Victoria Coste; siblings Bernard, Aleta Perez Barrow, Elwood, Morrison, and Charles; stepbrother, George P. Dugue, Jr. (and wife, Jocelyn Watts), brothers- and sisters-in-law, Lorraine Guillaume, Theresa Cochrane, Marcella Girard, Mary Ann Anderson, Uless, Jr., Alvarez and Bernadine Fulton.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children Stephanie Braquet (Ray, Mocksville, North Carolina) Herman, Jr. (Christine); granddaughter, Gabrielle Coste; aunt, Louise Laurent Williams (Slidell, La.), siblings, George V. Perez, Jr. (Pearl Lasseigne), Paul (Marlene DeMartelaere, San Jose, CA); Kenneth Perez (Dallas, TX); James (Linda Valteau, San Jose, CA); Maurice (Geneva Steib), Morris (Lafayette, LA); Juanita Perez; brother-in-law, Gerald Grandpre; and sisters-in-law, Norma Coste Grandpre, Phyllis Flot, Denise Galbreath and Kathryn Duplessis.
Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and cousins (quite a few).
Family and friends are invited to a funeral service on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Boulevard, Marrero, Louisiana. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a Catholic service. Interment at Southeastern Veterans Cemetery in Slidell, Louisiana at 1:30 p.m.
