Brandon Michael Dufrene Sr.

Brandon Michael Dufrene, Sr. 43, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 21, 2020. Brandon is survived by his parents, Kathryn Kinler Dufrene and Adrian J. Dufrene; His children Brandon M. Dufrene, Jr., and Rio Simone Dufrene; His sister Kristina “Krissy” Walters and her Husband Christopher D. Walters, who was one of his best friends.
Brandon is also survived by his former spouse and the loving mother of his children, Stacie Helmstetter Dufrene, He is also survived by his loving Aunts and Uncles Henry (Sonny) Kinler (Lisa), JoAlice Leo, Donna Troost (Steve) and Antoinette (Toni) McGrath (Bill). He is preceded in death by Aunts and Uncles Adrian (Sue) Cambas, Darrel Leo, and Brenton Dufrene (Rita). Brandon is also survived by a host of cousins, extended family, and friends.
Brandon was adored by his maternal grandparents, Henry, and May Kinler, and they were both there to welcome him into Heaven. Brandon helped as a caregiver for his maternal grandmother for many years. He is also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Surgene Blue (PaPa) and Marion (MaMa) Dufrene.
Brandon was born in Marrero where he resided for much of his life. He graduated from Archbishop Shaw High School in 1995. Brandon worked as an electronic systems technician in the United States Marine Corp. Brandon also worked at Avondale Shipyard for many years as an Electrician.
Despite his best attempts, addiction became a barrier he could not overcome. The demons of addiction were released at the time of his death. Brandon will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him. Brandon’s family carries on with the understanding that he is finally at Peace.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, January 4, 2020, at 10am, followed by Mass at 11 am at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, 146 4th Street, Westwego, LA 70094.
A private graveside burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery. As Mandated by the State of Louisiana due to the COVID-19 pandemic, everyone is required to wear a face mask at all times and practice social distancing.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Brandon Jr., and Rio Dufrene’s college fund would be greatly appreciated.
