Billy Parnell passed away peacefully at his home in New Orleans, LA on November 24, 2017 at the age of 95 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, W.R. Parnell and Elizabeth Baxley Parnell along with three brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Sara Carpenter Parnell. He was the loving daddy to W. Michael Parnell (Patty), Kim Parnell Vicknair, Stacey Parnell Butron (Carlos), Mark L. Parnell (Carol) and adopted dad to J. Michael Boitnott (Sally). He was the cherished papa to Sarah C. Vicknair, Michael E. Parnell (Sarah), Sofia M. Butron and Tyler G. Butron. He is also survived by a brother, Ronald Parnell of Maryland, a sister, Betty Idol of North Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws and other relatives and friends.
Billy served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired after 26 years of honorable service. He was a retiree of J. Ray McDermott and Isidore Newman School. He was a faithful member of Oak Park Baptist Church for 57 years.
