Bernadette Therese “Tini” Duet passed from this life on Thursday January 31, 2019, after a long illness. Aged 55, she was the daughter of Collins J.† and Genevieve M. Duet† of Belle Chasse. Tini graduated from Belle Chasse High School in 1981 and remained in contact with many of her classmates and former teachers. She then graduated from the University of New Orleans with a Bachelor’s degree in English. Following graduation, Tini worked for a number of local firms where she was employed as a Technical Writer. After a fulfilling career at the John C. Stennis Space Center, she worked as an independent contractor. She had a love for the University of New Orleans, was a tireless promoter of the University and was active in the Alumni Association. She was an avid Saints and LSU fan as well. She enjoyed the theater, singing Karaoke, and spending time with her four sisters.
For many years she enjoyed the moniker of “The Hat Lady” and seemed to have a hat for any and all occasions. Those attending on Tuesday are welcome to wear a hat - appropriate for the purpose of our gathering - to honor Tini in a special way. An always generous heart, quick wit, and beautiful smile will be among the many things she was known for and among the traits that will be most missed. She was pre-deceased by her parents and is survived by her sisters, Charmaine Theriot (Edward), Elizabeth “Betty” Quinn (Thomas), Katherine Schexnayder (Neill), Rita Casler (Leslie), and brothers John Duet, Collins “Uncle Frank” Duet (Donna) and Daniel Duet, numerous nieces/nephews, great-nieces/nephews, and great-great niece/nephew. In lieu of flowers please consider following Tini’s lead in registering as an organ donor with, or making a donation to, The Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency (800-521-4483). Relatives and Friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 8968 Highway 23, Belle Chasse, at 11:00am on Tuesday February 5, 2019. Visitation will be in the church from 9:00-11:00am, with a Rosary beginning at 10:30 for those who would like to participate. Interment will follow in the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery.
