Barbara Ann “Bobbie” Barrilleaux, 74, of Gretna, LA passed away on June 22, 2020 at Pontchartrain Guest House in Mandeville. She was born September 20, 1945 to Percy Paul Barrilleaux and Enola Mae Falcon. As a child, Barbara attended St. Joseph’s School in Gretna under the care of the Sisters of St. Joseph. She graduated from Mandeville High School in 1965. After graduation, Barbara opened a ladies salon in Mandeville called La Jolie Femme. After some time running the salon, Barbara discerned a vocation with the Sisters of St. Joseph. She spent time in formation at the mother house in Lafayette and their convent in St. Louis. Eventually, Barbara realized she was not called to the religious life and returned home to Gretna where she enjoyed a decades-long career with Winn-Dixie. After retiring from Winn-Dixie, she began her second career in the Corrections Department of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office where she was affectionately known as “Miss B.” She retired from the Sheriff’s Office in 2011. Barbara loved animals. She always kept at least one pet but was known to have three or more at any given time. In a family tradition, she enjoyed gardening, spending many hours maintaining her most cherished plants. Barbara was an accomplished artist. She particularly enjoyed painting and photographing scenes of the Louisiana countryside and bayou. Barbara was predeceased by her parents and her brother Percy Anthony Barrilleaux. She is survived by her sister Myra Ann Catledge as well her nieces and nephews, Bernard Barrilleaux of Tickfaw, Julie Ann Scheuber of Tyler, TX, Leland Claude Catledge of Clarkesville, GA, Jennifer Antoinette Smith of Covington, Larry Paul Catledge of Monroe, and Jessica Ann Davis of Royston, GA along with several great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by Leigh Ann Achee whom she helped raise. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 26, 2020 in Westlawn Memorial Park, Gretna, LA.
