Audrey Barnewold Demello

Audrey Barnewold DeMello entered into eternal rest on August 10, 2021. Beloved wife of Joseph P. DeMello for 44 years. Mother of Debbie Smith (Travis). Grandmother of Nathan Bowers. Daughter of the late Andrew J. Barnewold and Marjorie Adams Barnewold. Sister of Leona Deion (Calvin), Kim Bergeron (Desie), and the late Andrew J. Barnewold (Betty). Godmother of Diane Cabeceiras (Henry). Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Age 81 years, a native of New Orleans, and longtime resident of Port Sulphur, and Gretna, LA.
Audrey was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and grandmother. She loved the Lord and taught Sunday school for many years at Harahan Christian Church and Port Sulphur Baptist Church. She was a foster parent to approximately thirty children. As a homemaker, she loved to keep things tidy and was always decorating for the holidays. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, making memories, and spending time with family and friends. She will be deeply missed, but her suffering has turned to joy now that she is with the Lord.
Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Memorial Service at First Baptist Church, Belle Chasse, LA on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 12 PM.
