Ms. Amy DeMoras passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Febraury 24, 2021. She was born to the late Irene and Rowland Henderberg in Rochester NY on July 21, 1953.
Amy is survived by her children Michael R. Henderberg (Shanna), Sergio D. Reyes (Tracy), and Ruby L. Sokolowski (Rob). She is also survived by her brother Charles Henderberg and her sisters, Alice Palmer (Jim) and Mary Schoonover (Kevin). Amy also leaves behind three grandchildren.
Amy graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans with a Masters in Microbiology in the 1980s. She was a 3rd Order Carmelite of Immaculate Conception and she was also a member of The Lourdes Volunteers of America. Amy was an avid reader and she loved gardening. Amy took flamenco dance lessons in her spare time and she loved to have fun with friends and family. She had a passion for herbs and eventually started her own business selling rose oils. Amy will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass at St. Joseph Church, 610 6th St. Gretna LA 70053 on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at 10am, followed by a burial in Westlawn Cemetery. Vistation will begin at 830am. Due to Covid 19 restrictions, all guests are required to wear a facial covering /mask and social distancing will be implemented. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either Carmelites of the Immaculate Conception or Lourdes Volunteers of North America.
