Alex E. "Dickie" Guidry, Jr.

Alex E. “Dickie” Guidry, Jr. passed away peacefully on September 21, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was 79 years of age and a lifelong resident in Marrero, LA.

Beloved husband of the late Janice Dufour Guidry.Father of Bambil Foose (Jim), Shelli Zahorchak (Dennis) and Alexis Leslie (Robert). Grandfather of Alex, Logan, Laine and Liam. Brother of Michael Guidry (Kathy). Son of the late Alex E. Guidry, Sr. and Willie Mae Dantin Guidry. Also survived by many other loving relatives and friends.

Dickie worked for many years at Avondale Shipyard in the accounting department. He was heavily involved in real estate sales. He worked for the Jefferson Parish Public School System as a bus driver in his later years. He also proudly served on the Jefferson Parish Levee Board for 8 years. Dickie was one of the founding members of the 49ers, group of businessmen that meet once a month at various places on the Westbank for dinner.

Dickie was a man who took advantage of every moment life had to offer. He had a personality that could brighten a room and a joke for every occasion. He and Janice enjoyed traveling all over the world with their friends. Fishing was his favorite hobby, and only his closest friends know his secret fishing spots. Horse racing and playing cards were things he deeply enjoyed. The stock market was his favorite way to gamble. He was a huge LSU and Saints fan. The things that mattered to him most were friends and family. He loved people and bringing smiles to their faces.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOMES, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Monday, October 8, 2018 from 10am to 1pm. A Funeral Mass will follow. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park.
