William "Bill" Anthony Dazet, Sr.

William “Bill” Anthony Dazet, Sr., 75, passed away on February 24, 2015, in his Metairie home, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everard P. Dazet, Sr. and Dorothy “Dotsie” Rodriguez Dazet, and his beloved brother, Everard P. Dazet, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Carey Winter Dazet, and his children, William “Bill” A. Dazet, Jr., Thomas “Tommy” E. Dazet (Dawn), Caroline Dazet Sobolewski (Wojtek), Melissa Dazet Treuting (Kurt), and Christopher “Chris” E. Dazet. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, William “Bill” A. Dazet, III, Nicole Dazet, Sebastian Sobolewski, John “ Jack” Sobolewski, Lucy Treuting, Betsy Treuting, and Marcy Treuting, and another one on the way. He leaves behind his sisters, Dorothy “Dottie” Dazet Blakley (Butch) and Alicia “Lisie” Dazet Fortenberry (George), and many beloved nieces and nephews. Bill was born August 9, 1939, and grew up in Buras, Louisiana. He attended Holy Cross High School in New Orleans and St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. He served in the United States Air Force Reserves from 1962 until 1968. Bill first worked as a CPA and government auditor, a stockbroker at Kohlmeyer & Company, and also as President of Wetzel Printing. He then went on to serve as Vice President at Upton Printing, followed by a long career at McDermott International, as Manager of Corporate Graphics. He retired over ten years ago and was able to spend his time doing the things he enjoyed most, such as hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren, especially at his camp in Buras. He loved to cook for his family and friends and had many hobbies, including duck decoy and fish woodcarving, working in his orange orchard, and creating various artworks reflecting his love of Louisiana and the outdoors. Bill was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, uncle, and friend to many, and he will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Yenni Cancer Treatment Center and Oncology Department at East Jefferson General Hospital, where Bill was treated by an amazing group of nurses and caregivers, whom he considers his angels. Additionally, blood donations may be made in Bill’s name at the East Jefferson General Hospital Blood Bank. A visitation will be held at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Friday, February 27, 2015 from 8:30AM until 11AM. A Funeral Mass will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11AM. Interment will be in Our Lady of Good Harbor Cemetery, Buras, LA.
