Wilbert P. Hernandez Sr., age 92 years, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2017. He was born to the late Gustave and Hilda Fischer Hernandez on July 26, 1925 in New Orleans, LA. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Anna “Tita” Martinez Hernandez and sister, Hilda Hernandez Johnson.
He is survived by his two sons, Wilbert P. Hernandez Jr. and Robert J. Hernandez; daughter-in-law, Peggy N. Hernandez; granddaughter, Heather L. Hernandez and his niece, Mary Ann Martinez Gunaldo and family.
Wilbert served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II with tours of duty in Germany, France and the Czech Republic earning several decorations including the Combat Infantry Badge. Upon Honorable Discharge from military service, his career with New Orleans Public Belt Railroad spanned over 45 years.
Wilbert enjoyed music and dancing at Rock n’ Bowl, Boomtown Casino and Tipitina’s with his many friends also visits to the World War II Museum.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOMES, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Saturday, December 30, 2017 from 11 AM to 1:30 PM. A Funeral Mass will follow. Interment will be private.
