Walter Smith, Sr.

February 3, 1963 — April 25, 2018

Walter Smith Sr. "Paw Paw," a retired welder and outside machinist passed away on April 25, 2018 of cancer at his home. He was 55 years old. Mr. Smith was a lifelong resident of Gretna. Survivors include his wife Yolanda Smith, one daughter, Crissandra, one son in-law, Malachi, one son Walter, one god son, Malik, 3 god daughters, Holly, Shantrell, and Emma, two grand kids, Keeri and Malachi, his father Harold Evans, adopted-honorable father Lawrence Earl Jr., brothers Ernest Ruffin (Tonique), Adolph Bennett Sr. sisters Dianna Bennett, (Christopher), Vennetta Smith Waller (Reginald), Nikkita White (Gregory), Merilyn Ruffin Ross (Freddie), one aunt Anna Smith Perkins, and one uncle James Smith Sr. Walter was preceded in death by his mother Sylvia Mary Smith Ruffin, his lifelong mother who adopted him Theresa Smith Earl, his grandparents Ernest and Louvenia Smith, brothers Ardelphus Bennett Sr., and Melvin Bennett Sr., uncles Peter, Joseph, and Frank Smith, and great-aunt Bertha Smith. A funeral will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 11 A.M. at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA 70072. Visitation will begin at 10 A.M. Burial will be in Gretna at McDonoghville Cemetery, 520 Hancock Street. Family and friends may offer condolences at www.mothefunerals.com .
