Tyrell T. Manieri, Sr., a native of Bay St. Louis, MS and a resident of Algiers, LA for the past 72 years, went home to the Lord on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at the age of 101. Beloved husband of the late Mercedes Gallinghouse Manieri. Son of the late Amelia Ramond Manieri and Sydney A. Manieri Sr. Father of Deacon Tyrell "Terry" Manieri, Jr. (Dottie). Grandfather of Traci Manieri Vedros (Chris), Shannon Manieri, and Tyrell "Ty" Manieri III (Corrie). Great grandfather of Evan Vedros, Jacob Manieri, Luke Vedros, Julia Vedros, Ellis Manieri, and the late Alex Michael Vedros. Also survived by his sister, Muriel "Mutt" Brokmeier (Henry) and sister-in-law, Bobbie Manieri. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his siblings, Emile Manieri (Eva), Valmae Mary Witter (Bill), Elvera "Vee" Ford (Vic), Geraldine Manieri, Anna Bell Radecker (Ralph), Sidney A. Manieri, Jr. (Jean), Amelia Mary "Metzie" Blount (Jim), and Donald Manieri. Tyrell was a decorated Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific for 4 years. He received many medals including a Purple Heart and 2 Bronze Stars. Tyrell retired after 31 years as a New Orleans Police Officer and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, VFW Post 3121, and American Legion Post 218. He was also a dedicated parishioner and usher at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Algiers.
We would like to thank the staff at Our Lady of Wisdom for the excellent care Paw Tyrell received at that facility for the past 4 years. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at St. Martha Catholic Church, 2555 Apollo Dr., Harvey, LA 70058 from 8:30am to 9:00am for family and from 9am to 11am for friends. Funeral Mass will follow visitation. Interment, Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
