Salvatore Caruso, Jr., known to his family and friends as "Sal," passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at the age of 58. Sal was born in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1960 to parents Adele and Salvatore Caruso. He entered into military service with the United States Air Force after graduating from Arch Bishop Shaw High School in 1978. After proudly serving in the Gulf War, Sal was honorably discharged and began his career with Delta Airlines. His work brought him and his family to Hurst, Texas where he has lived for more than 25 years. He is remembered by his beloved wife of 37 years, Cheryl (Relle) Caruso; children Salvatore Caruso, III, David Caruso, Katie Summerfield, and Ahmad Simmons; four grandsons; as well as his mother Adele Caruso and two sisters Karen Gaudet and Beth Chiasson. Special thanks to the extraordinary staff of St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado for taking excellent care of Sal during his last days.
Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Funeral Service in the Chapel of MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy, Harvey, LA on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 1:30 PM led by longtime friend Deacon Jim Venturella. Burial will follow at his family plot in Greenwood Cemetery, New Orleans, LA. Visitation will be held in the parlor from 10:30 AM until 1:15 PM when the family will share words of remembrance until service time at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project in Sal's honor.
