Rowland J. Schneider

Rowland J. Schneider, a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Algiers, LA, died Wednesday, September 25, 2014 at the age of 78. Beloved husband of Cathleen “Catsy” Harper Schneider for 24 years and former husband of the late Cherry Cachin Schneider. Loving father of Rowland E. “Buster” Schneider, Keith M. Schneider (Dana), Kim S. Maloz, Dawn S. Eiserloh (Robert), Hope S. Ignelzi (Tom) and the late Deborah E. Schneider. Step father of Brent Moreland (Natasha) and John T. Velasco (Tania). Grandfather of Michelle, Kathleen and Kristin Maloz, Keith M. and Ashley E. Schneider, Lauren C. and Megan E. Eiserloh, Connie Moreland and Juan Pablo Velasco. Brother of Henry J. Schneider (Shirley) and James Schneider (Roslyn). Also survived by numerous great grandchildren, family and friends. Son of the late Eugenie Daigle and Henry J. Schneider.
Rowland served on the New Orleans Police Dept. for 20 years until his retirement in 1980. He continued as an entrepreneur owning several businesses including Downtown Disposal Co., and General Auto and Truck. He also worked for Gibson Roofing and the New Orleans Private Patrol. Rowland was proficient in American Sign Language, interpreting and instructing at Delgado College. He enjoyed gardening and was a Master Gardener.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy, Harvey, LA on Saturday, September 27, 2014 from 1 PM until 3 PM. The Memorial Service will follow at 3 PM.
