Rita Barras Sallettes, age 88, passed away very peacefully the early morning of Saturday, January 23, 2016. She spent her last days surrounded by her family and friends at her home, where she lived with her daughter Sandy and their furry friend, Sassy, for the past 13 years. She was a devoted wife and mother and lived for her family. Also a very kind and dear person who was loved by many. She is the wife of the late beloved husband, Roger J. Sallettes, Sr. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary Cooper Barras; her brothers, Charles, David and Lloyd Barras; and son-in-laws Joseph Albeanese, III and Roy Calderone. She is survived by her four children, Janet S. Albeanese, Roger Sallettes, Jr., Sandy Sallettes and Carolyn S. Calderone (Michael Casso); three grandchildren, Farrah Woodruff (Frank), Misty Laizer and Jennifer Albeanese; four great-grandchildren, Madison & Emily Woodruff, Kelsea Papania and Kasea Laizer. Both she and her husband were very active for many years at St. Joseph Church and School. She loved playing the piano and painting or coloring, both of which she took lessons for to continue to enjoy. She was a very loving and extremely caring person to the end with a remarkable sense of humor. She used to say "You needed common sense and sense of humor to get thru life". Everyone who knew her, loved her. She will be deeply missed. In Lieu of Flowers, please made a donation in Rita's memory to St. Joseph Church in Gretna. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 6th Street, Gretna, LA on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 from 9:30AM until 10:30AM.
